Second FragMent seminar with local and national stakeholders!

Date: 17/06/2026

On June 17th 2026, the FragMent project had the pleasure of hosting its second seminar titled “Stress in the city”, with the involvement of numerous local and national stakeholders.

The project members presented preliminary and ongoing results the various methodologies including focus groups, a large-scale survey and virtual reality experiments. Key preliminary results revealed that urban stress in Luxembourg is linked to mobility challenges (traffic, public transport), noise, and lack of green spaces. Focus groups highlighted that stress varies by context—time of day, activity, and social company—and affects people differently, with women and parents feeling more vulnerable. Free-access spaces like parks reduce chronic stress, while commercial areas (cafés, shops) increase it. Voice analysis shows stress alters vocal traits, offering a non-invasive way to measure stress. These results aim to design healthier, stress-reducing urban environments.

The FragMent team extends its gratitude to the LUGa, Mouvement ecologique, Pro-SUD, the ministry of energy and urban planning, the Ligue Luxembourgeoise d’Hygiène Mentale a.s.b.l., the Laboratoire National de Santé, the municipality of Sanem, the municipality of Schifflange, and Agora for their presence and active participation.
